Wonderful Hat Story from Millie in NYC

Story told by Millie! Let's get those hats made everyone!!

"This morning on my way to work, I saw the people already lined up to receive food from the church food bank. I counted 4 people sitting there. Mind you distribution is at 12:00 PM and they were already there at 7:30 PM.

I ran to my parked car, grabbed a handful of hats and approached them. I told them I was thinking of them and made the hats and they could pick anyone they wanted. One lady got teary-eyed and touched me with her broad… Continue

How are you coming on making hats?

Not sure how many people on here are actually making hats, but was wondering how you are coming along if you are?

I've made 35 I think.... got 3 done today so far. Day off-- I like days off!!

We need a few good women - well, a lot actually!! :)

Good morning everyone!
I know that out there somewhere, there are lurking people who would LOVE to reach out to help the homeless and displaced. Some of you maybe have helped Warming Families in the past?

We need some more Chapter Area Volunteers, all around the world actually, but especially in the United States. I would like to see at least 2 in every state (and Province! and country!!) to help warm those in need.

Maybe you have thought about doing something like this?

Being a Chapter Area… Continue

Angels

“We are reminded that not all angels are from the other side of the veil. Some of them we walk with and talk with—here, now, every day. Some of them reside in our own neighborhoods. Some of them gave birth to us. . . . Heaven never seems closer than when we see the love of God manifested in the kindness and devotion of people so good and so pure that angelic is the only word that comes to mind."

I googled Lily Chin and the pattern is called "Pinwheels' Berets and Toques". It would depend on where she lives as far as ordering it.
The baby blanket is a free pattern at knitty.com and the link is:

I found it!
Pinwheels' Berets and Toques
Three Beret and three Toque designs inspired by the sectionally-triangled hats of friend and fellow fiber artist Norma Ellman. The hats offer endless possibilities for using small amounts of hand-dyed as well as solid color yarns. Adjustments to size may be made in cast off round. Beret top is about 11" in diameter and toque about 9" $5.00 (Designed for bulky or chunky weight yarn.) Design by Lily Chin

Hi there. The hat you asked about is from a Lily Chin pattern. I think it is about $4 and will let you know more when I locate it. I am pretty sure there is a copyright on it, but it is affordable. I think there are 5 or 6 variations of the hat and I followed it exactly this time. I used a bulky Brown Sheep yarn and have seen it made with a worsted that is lighter than the one in the picture. It was fun to make and I will be making more when I get to winter knitting. The weather is so nice today I would rather knit with cotton. judy

Good morning Connie,
This will be a hat project now, not blankets as originally thought. I have removed Alan's comment about the blankets to avoid confusion. :) I think you will like making hats as they are simple, and quick to make.

If you have more question please don't hesitate to ask. :)
